Which parameters are required?
Source, medium, and campaign are the three most analytics tools expect. Term and content are optional and mostly used for paid search and A/B tests.
Does it change my existing query string?
No. The UTM parameters are appended to whatever the base URL already has.
Should values have spaces?
Use lowercase and hyphens or underscores instead of spaces — utm_campaign=summer_sale, not “Summer Sale”. It keeps reports clean.
